The Anekdoten Newsletter #2, July 1997

We have been sweating in the rehearsal studio these past days (sweating not only because we haven't played live for 8 months; it has also been very hot in Stockholm) to get things together for our two upcoming gigs in Germany on Saturday and Sunday this weekend. As we do not have so much else to reveal, this newsletter mainly concerns our upcoming gig-schedule.

However, we can also report that there will be a Japan-only live-EP released in September on the Arcangelo label. The songs that will be featured are Nucleus, The Flow, A Way Of Life (previously unreleased instrumental) and Karelia.

CONFIRMED GIGS

26 July - Open Air Festival at Geisgerbad in Veitshöchheim, Germany

The festival will be held in a village near Würzburg and the admission is only 6 mark. We are headlining the event (Yipeee!) and are scheduled to enter the stage at approximately 9 pm. The festival is a yearly event which I believe is on its 7th year now and performing are mostly local acts (of which we have no information, sorry...).

27 July - Open Air at Museumshof, Fulda, Germany

Featuring:
ROBBY KRIEGER BAND
ANEKDOTEN
FARFARELLO

The Robby Krieger band was supposed to have Ray Manzarek guesting; thus making it a reunion of all 3 remaining members of the Doors, as John Densmore will also be in the band on this 4-date tour. However, I talked with one of the organizers yesterday and apparently Ray has stomach problems and is currently hospitalized, so unfortunately he will not be appearing in Fulda.

The entrance is 38 DM and the event will end at 11 pm. We do not know when doors open, but it will most likely not be as early as noon, as has previously been stated on our homepage. Phone +49-661-79137 for more information.

23 August - Adventurous Rock Day '97 at the Cosmopolite Musichall, Majorstuen, Oslo, Norway

Featuring:
3.30 pm - ANEKDOTEN
5.15 pm - LANDBERK (Sweden)
8.00 pm - DEAD DINO STORAGE (Norway)
10.00 pm - ARENA (UK)

This one day event has its own homepage, and as I presume that most of you dear readers have access to the Web I will not rave much about it here. Please visit the festival homepage at "http://home.sol.no/prognet/festival/" if you think that this could be something for you.

29 - 31 August - Stockholm Progressive Festival at Folkoperan, Stockholm, Sweden

Friday:
LUCIFER WAS (Norway)
STANDARTE (Italy)
ANEKDOTEN

Saturday:
HÖYRY-KONE (Finland)
DARXTAR (Sweden)
PÄR LINDH PROJECT (Sweden)
THE FLOWER KINGS (Sweden)

Sunday:
International record convention

We wrote about this event in our first newsletter as well, but there has been a change of headline since then. The final replacement for Gong turned out to be The Flower Kings.

APM will release the new excellent Höyry-kone CD "Huono Parturi" (which has Peter Nordins guesting on percussives on two of the tracks) in time for the festival.

The Stockholm Progressive Festival also has its own Web-pages at "http://www.uni-x.se/recordheaven/Festival.html".

11 & 12 October On Air West, Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan

13 October Muse Hall, Osaka, Japan

Visit the Poseidon Productions homepage for more information regarding the tour (in Japanese): "http://www1e.meshnet.or.jp/netcreators/offline/poseidon/poseidon.htm".

UNCONFIRMED GIGS

Unfortunately it now looks as the Rome gig in September will not happen. However there is a possibility that Anekdoten (and perhaps also Landberk) will perform in Trondheim, Norway on the 26th of August. No idea of venue, but keep an eye on our homepage for eventual updates.

That's all for now folks! We are really looking forward to performing live again and we hope to see some of you at the shows.

Have a continuously nice summer!
