A Time Of Day

the great unknown
30 pieces
king oblivion
a sky about to rain
stardust and sand
in for a ride
prince of the ocean
The Great Unknown

Finally we are on our way
Where no man's gone,
launching deep into the great unknown
Space and time passing by,
but the world outside
is swallowed whole by the starless sky

I turned the key in the door
It’s been a long time a-coming
I’ve been a long time gone

I can't believe this is happening to me
We have passed the sun
and something tells me this has just begun

I turned the key in the door
It’s been a long time a-coming
I’ve been a long time gone

All the forces of the cosmos lead me on
as we shoot through the galaxy
I'm coming home!

30 Pieces

Did you see me?
Did you bother when my head was under water?
When the road was hard and winding
Where were you? Where were you hiding?
You were nowhere to be found
when I searched the heavens and the ground
Or was I too blind to see?
That was what you kept on telling me

So the truth shall set me free?
Well, I'm cold and I am hungry
Tell me why I should believe
I see death and I see you and me

Darkness falling down on me
The betrayal burned a mark so deep
Thirty pieces at my feet
No Lord above my soul to keep

The silver coins lay on the ground - they blind my eyes
What would it take to make all my dreams come to life?
Only a word,
give me just a sign
Just a tiny lie…

King Oblivion

The seven trumpets call
Locusts fall,
darkening the sky and sun
The serpent's head will rise
from the depths,
from the corners of your mind
Ever wondered why?

What’s another lie
in a dark forest of denial?
What’s another drop
in a deep and diluted sea of compromise?

The horsemen gather ‘round,
line by line,
waiting for the chosen one
No heads hang in shame
All as one
bow to King Oblivion
Oh, it makes me cry

What’s another lie
in a dark forest of denial?
What’s another drop
in a deep and diluted sea of compromise?

A Sky About To Rain

How did it ever come to this?
I can’t pretend that nothing’s changed any longer
I’ve drowned the doubts and chewed the lies
Ignored the space between the lines

Don’t act so surprised
when you knew it all along
Each and every lie
burns a hole into my soul

Then you asked me how this came to be…
A quite selective memory…
In what dirty river did you find
the water that would make you lose your reflection?
Heard you say we're both to blame...
It's just a lame attempt to ease your pain...

Don’t act so surprised
when you knew it all along
Each and every lie
burns a hole into my soul
A Sky About To Rain

Stardust and Sand

All was dark in the deep
Traces few, faint and weak
Worried whispers from below
No-one here to bless my soul

I can’t see what you see,
where you are or where you’ve been
Who are you? Friend or foe?
Where’s the secret yet untold?

Saw you in the distance
Damn these feet of clay
Tried to raise myself up,
but even failed to call your name

Slept with one eye open
Dream held tight in hand
Woke and found it broken
amidst the stardust and the sand

In For A Ride

How long ‘til I’m set free,
until I find a tie that binds?
How long until I see
the words that rhyme?
But when the blinding lights have all gone down
you are in for a ride

How long until we meet,
until our lines will entwine?
How far until we hit
the other side?
But when we’ve passed the point of no return
you are in for a ride

Fate came by and leaned in close to me
I skipped a heartbeat
What if this is what I’ve waited for?
Then what will come of me?
Maybe the timing is more wrong than right?
Signs of panic…
But I’ve bought that ticket and I’ll take that ride
There’s no way back to sleep
when you’ve woken up the beast…

Suddenly the dice were cast,
the bones were dancing madly on the table
Don’t think about tomorrow
Don’t dwell on the mistakes that you have made
This is the time, this is the place
And when the blinding lights have all gone down
you are in for a ride

Prince Of The Ocean

Stood by the gate at the foot of the garden
Am I too late? Are you gone now forever?
So many things I never did tell you
So many things, but still not much getting done

Examining memories, dissecting dreams
Looking for visions and great, long lost schemes
Half-baked ideas were all that I found
No guide to my future, no key to what I've become

I am an island, a ship on a sea
I drift with the winds,
where the currents will lead
I am an island, a star in the night
I scan the horizon for beacons of light
Long are the hours
Still is the sea

When you had gone through the lost and the found,
what were the things that stuck in your mind?
When you were tossing and turning in bed,
what were the thoughts that went through your head?
I know that you're longing for some greater plan
A welcoming harbour, a safe place to land
Abandon the anchor, go set the sail
Lashed to the mast, follow the nail!
